Getting Started
The first step is to schedule a complimentary consultation call. During this 15-20 minute conversation, we’ll discuss the concerns for which you’re seeking services and whether I have the skills to help. You are encouraged to ask questions about me and my practice to determine whether you think I might be a good fit for you/your child. If we agree it makes sense to move forward, we will schedule an intake appointment.
If either of us does not believe I’m quite the right therapist for you, I will be happy to provide some additional referrals to try to assist in you finding someone with the expertise to address your concerns.
During our initial intake appointment (90-110 mins), I will:
gather a detailed history and work to understand more about the problems you or your child are experiencing
ask about your goals for treatment
share my initial thoughts on how we can work together to get you unstuck and feeling better
From there, I typically see clients for weekly 45-50 min sessions during the initial treatment period, so that we can build momentum and you can feel progress happening.
Once you have made some solid gains and are feeling more confident in continuing to practice skills independently, we will discuss decreasing the frequency of sessions or wrapping up treatment.
